Trash to Treasure

So I salvaged an old Cinderella storybook that was going to be thrown out by the library.  The cover came off and a lot of the pages were missing. :( This was vintage, circa 1980! I had to turn the art into some cards.  Unfortunately, I cannot sell these pieces due to copyright and license issues, but they make a nice addition to my personal stash and I'm sure people will appreciate the vintage images!

Just added a purple base layer, a crocheted flower, and ruffled ribbon.  All retired Stampin Up product.

Added a card stock base layer and a flower I had in my stash.

Added a card stock base layer, some washi tape, a button, and linen thread.

Added the cute Stampin Up cupcake builder punch.

Added a felt flower and a shell button.

Can't wait to salvage more vintage story books! I saved a heap from the library!

Custom Card Monday! The Chicken Florist

So I'm going to start a new thing here on my blog... I feel like its been a little neglected ever since I opened my Etsy shop and YouTube channel! I have made TONS of cards without posting them to my blog. Shame on me! So, I devised a plan (insert evil laugh).  Every Monday I'm going to post a custom card that I've made for a customer, friend, or family member.  These always are a bit out of the ordinary and deserve a place in cyber space!

Here's my first one:

I had someone who wanted a birthday card for her sister.  She is a tropical flower florist and also a chicken in the Chinese zodiac.  Behold, the chicken florist! :)

Got the chicken from the Country Life cartridge. The tropical flowers are from various Cricut cartridges.  I know I used luau and accent essentials.  I also hand punched some flowers and added pearls.  Love the colors together.  I used Stampin Up's Coastal Cabana, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, and Tangerine Tango. LOVE this color combo!  I also sponged a sky background.

Hope you enjoyed my first installment of Custom Card Mondays!

Entering this in the following challenges:
Pink Elephant - Fave Color Combo
Cute Card Thursday - Wild Life
Milk Coffee - At least 2 flowers
One Stitch at a Time - For a Woman
Love to Create - Bingo (flowers, yellow, sparkle)

The Great American Road Trip 2014! Moving from Coast to Coast!

So... I've been traveling for awhile now. LOL. I know it may not seem like it because I've had my posts scheduled since the ending of January, but the Navy moved us once again and this time we went from the east coast to the pacific northwest! Wheeee! We DROVE it.  Crazy! I call it my Great American road trip! I've never seen these places before and I was super excited to see the sights and eat the eats! Here are some photos of where we stopped and what we did!

We started off in Connecticut with America's best pizza - The Clam Pie at Frank Pepes.

We did the Cheesesteak Shuffle in Philadelphia.

I even ran up the Rocky Steps!!!!

I tried out some Iron Chef eats at Lola in Cleveland.

Had a cheese pie at Lou's in Chicago.

Checked out the shiny bean there too. :)

Went to see what the frozen Souix Falls looked like.

And traveled the Bad Lands.

Made it to Mount Rushmore.

And went dog sledding in Montana!

Had a sleigh ride.

And went snowmobiling in...

Yellowstone Park!

Well-traveled Sabotage! He enjoyed every single hotel room we stayed in!

And when we finally got here... I found lots of Hawaiian food! YES!!!!

Hope you enjoyed my pictures! You can see videos of me and my trip (like me running up The Rocky Steps) on Instagram.  I'm vampyra1 on there. :)

Now I can go back to blogging, Etsy-ing, and commenting on all your blogs! Whew!

Midway through Scribble's Frame It Challenge!

Its Feb 28! Which means we're halfway through our Scribbles Designs challenge!  This month, we want to see your "Frame It" projects. Here's my midway project:

The frame is called Frame 9.  I also used the "thank you" sentiment from Sandy's digi called Words.  If you only get one digi from Scribbles by Sandy, I would highly suggest Words! It's got a smattering of great sentiments for your cards... and they're all drawn up in Sandy's pretty calligraphy!  I inked up the frame with Copics.  Used a very simple layout.  Card stock, ribbon, and paper are all Stampin Up.

You don't need a Scribbles image to play, but if you do use a Scribbles image, however, you can enter as many times as you wish.  Go here to play with us!
